Bent vanes
When I stored my bow last year I left the quiver in the side pocket and 2 of my bolts have a bent vane on them is there a good way to straighten them or should I replace them
Re: Bent vanes
Try heating them up with a hair dryer. Usually works pretty well.

Thanks do you straighten them with your fingers or do they go back on their own when they cool .robertyb wrote:Try heating them up with a hair dryer. Usually works pretty well.

I never tried it but I heard holding it over steam from your tea kettle works real good. No need to touch it, the vane should retain its memory and the heat will bring it back to shape.

I use a hair dryer too...set on LOW. They will start to move on their own when heated (play the heat back and forth across them) but you can help them along by passing them between thumb and forefinger.

I boil a pot of water and dip the whole end of arrow in for maybe 20 seconds. As the vains cool they straighten out perfect. Doesnt seem to affect the glue etc and works a treat.
