What type of case

Post by Steve_Guelph »

I am curious what type of case you use to transport your crossbow. The excalibur case, a hard case like a manta, do you breakdown your crossbow and use a double gun case. I have used a soft excalibur case for a longtime but like the idea of a double gun case for longer group trips when space is at a premium.

I bought a cheap allen archery padded case because i hate the heavy weight of the planos hard cases. When i left the woods last night i just uncocked the bow and threw it in my back seat of my Tundra uncased. Its legal here because i have CCW permit.

I have the Manta case and used it once and realized its way to big for my car. Going to try and sell it and get the Excal soft case.

I use a soft case for local travel and a double gun hard case for air or long distance.
I have also used a sheet wrapped around the bow and tied off with cord.

I dont use the quiver either.
I'm working on converting the quiver to be a hip quiver.

I have just used the padded Excalibur case so far but have only traveled locally with it. If I had to fly or was concerned with space, I would probably go the double gun case route.

I know you should always check your crossbow after travel but to anyone that has removed the limb section from the stock does it need adjustment?

Point of impact should not be affected.
The bow was designed to easily break down and travel that way.

I use a case like IronNoggin (except it's a Black Dodge Ram) for local hunting. And a Plano Manta for long trips. It's huge but I can fit the bow (stringed) arrows (in a hard arrow case), quiver and other stuff in there so it's not that bad.
