String Fray Help - ASAP

Post by BizROWorld »

My Dad bought the Excalibur Ibex. He took 36 shots to sight it in. The string looks frayed (see pic). The serving looks fine, but the string has a bunch of these fraying marks on it, on both sides. I've had my Vortex since 2011 with the original string and barely have any of these.

What happened to this string? Is it a defect? He is all sighted in and it shoots great, is it Ok to hunt with this season since the only shots he will be taking is at a deer or decocking once per week?

Excalibur is sending a new string, but I'm thinking he can hunt this year with this string, and change the string and re sight-in next spring.

Thanks!

if you worried about it then slap that new one on and hunt.
if the fraying your referring to is like a fuzz or furry look on the string. then wax it a go ..just make sure theres no broken strands.

I wish I could post a picture, but it keeps saying "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

I think it's broken strands.....must be a defect or something. New string didn't come yet.

You need to run the pics thru a hosting site like photobucket..........If you get that far, just copy the bottom of four url's and paste............

I just added that attachment and I did not use an image hosting website.

Below the posting window there is a list under options.
All my boxes are clear except for attach a signature.

Click on the upload attachment button. Then click on browse. A search window will come up and you choose an image and double click on it.
Once the address appears in the little window then click on add file which is right beside it.
Then you click on place inline and then click on submit or preview if you want to make sure the image made it into the post window.
