New 355 owner

Post by KYRidgeback »

New to xbows and jumped into a new 355 after doing a fair amount of research.

It arrived yesterday and I was able to begin sighting it in today.

Shooting the 18" diablos and 150 gr field points.

Curious as to what is considered decent groups at various yardages for hunting purposes?

Follows are pictures of my first 20 and 40 yard groups following a quick site in. Shot sitting and using the deck railing as a rest. A little gusty L-R @ 10-20 mph

20 yard (bottom arrow deflected down after hitting a knock)

40 yard

Only three shots @ 40 due to smashing a knock on the 20 yard group.

I know the bow can do better than I at this point... and the trigger is still pretty crunchy.

Curious if this is the ballpark of adequate?

Oh, and thanks Wyvern for the great service.

It is all trial and error shooting that is and working out what is best for you and your bow. You are looking pretty good. We use to have a saying hit a pie pan at from 0 to 30 yds and your ready to bow hunt deer. Welcome to the forum :D

Thanks all for the welcome and feedback.

I'll be shooting the heck out of this thing over the coming weeks and hopefully be up to snuff for our xbow season here in Oct.

I know the saying! 20+ years ago when I was a teenager and into archery in a big way that was the mantra then. My last vert bow was this classic:

Minus the overdraw - never liked the idea of an arrow behind my hand. Used to toss grape fruits from a tree stand in the back yard and try to pin them before they stopped rolling!

Been interesting to see what has become of some of the big names in the business since. Sad to see so many once quality brands run into the ground.
