Tact Zone Scope ?

I just purchased a Matrix 380 and I was wondering if the yardage numbers should light up when I turn it on. The cross hairs and yardage dots light up but not the numbers. Is this normal?

The numbers are not suppose to illuminate, just the chevron markers. Lighting the numbers would over-illuminate the sight picture making it more difficult seeing what you are shooting at. That's the thinking anyhow.
