Matrix 380 scope advice

Post by Kimball Klick »

I'm sure this question has been posted before sorry but I'm going to ask again I'm not a100% satisfied with my Tact-Zone scope I find it hard to see at dusk plus when I turn on the red or green illuminationI it makes everything look red or green even at the lowest setting, I do find the Tact-Zone to be extremely clear when I'm sitting in an open area before it gets dark. Would love to hear peoples suggestions on changing scopes is the excalibur Twilight DLX scope the way to go or is there other manufacturers that might put out a scope you can recommend to me Thanks

I suggest a Leupold 2-7x33mm shotgun scope. Leupold's low light gathering characteristics are awesome. I sold my Tact-Zone scope on ebay.

I have a Leupold VX-I 2-7x33mm shotgun/muzzleloader dark earth finish NWTF edition scope mounted on my Matrix 355 using Leupold Rifleman Detachable low rings.

I am not a Tact-Zone fan either. My wife loved it so its on her Vixen. I use a Hawke XB30, but it is on the heavy side. Its great in low light and I have no issues with it other than the weight.
The Leupold is another option and one that I will look into after season. I have read great reviews about them.

So am missing something here what's RIDICULOUS. Im a fond believer that you get what you pay for but sometimes the most expensive products aren't the best producers if this question is a problem sorry to bother you

For the scope characteristics that I want that would have put my 380 in the $1800 range. Clearly we all have our own expectations in scopes and mine are high. I'm going with a VXR this year. Presently I am using a 1.75X6 VXIII. I will swap that for a Leupold Hog Scope with a Pig Plex. Front lens is smaller but it's almost as bright while at the same time being considerably lighter. I am also considering a VXR 2X7. Buy the best scope you can afford.
What I don't like about the XB30 is the fine crosshairs and I don't like all the illumination. I like the extremely small illuminated dot in the VXRs and the auto on and off feature.
