Matrix 355 scope

Post by Carnivorous »

As I am sitting herekeeping an eye on our new puppy a bit bored & looking @ scope upgrade options for next Season for my M355. I am wondering if anyone is using this scope for crossbow purposes.

Leupold VX1 2-7 X 33

Image

I like this reticle the best becasue of the other aim points. The scope has adjustable magnification so if all goes well I should have aim points for 20,30,40 & 50. Perfect!

I am using a Hawke scope now but the glass is not all that great in low light conditions.

This scope seems to be set-up the same as the crossbones scope @ 2-7 X 33 & the price is the same as well. I just like this reticle style better (personal choice).

Let me know your thoughts...

Jeff, the way I see it, is that the Leupold reticle shown is actually depicts only the center 50% of what you will really see when you look through the scope. Leupold does this for clarity so that the viewer can clearly see the subtensions in illustration.
If Leupold showed the full 100% view some reticle detail may be lost to the viewer due to the limited print space. This was explained to me by Leupold Customer Service over the phone.
The drop zones may be too bunched up even at 2 power for your 355 with the below VX 1 2-7.
The Crossbones is much better in this department.

I agree with enormous. The aiming points are too close together on the LR Duplex reticle for any real use on a crossbow. The Leupold Crossbones scope is also a VX-1 2-7x33mm, but features the correct crossbow ballistic reticle. I must add it's a wise choice selecting a Leupold for your Matrix 355 you won't be disappointed. I also recommend Leupold rifleman's detachable low rings.

Leupold quote: "The LR Duplex will assist you with accurate, repeatable, and ethical long-range shooting. It features a Duplex central aiming point for rifles zeroed at 200 yards, and calibrated hold points for 300, 400 and 500 yards."

I am going with the Leopold Heavy Duplex, much better light gathering reticle than the crossbones imo.

The Leupold Heavy Duplex reticle is easier to pick up under low light conditions and has worked for many crossbows users.

I use the Leupold VX-I 2-7x33mm shotgun/muzzleloader scope with a Turkey Plex reticle. Although not quite as thick as with the Heavy Duplex reticle, it is still easy to pick up do to the stellar low light gathering characteristics of the Leupold scope.

Decided to go with the crossbones scope. Thanks for all the valuable input.

Going to replace the hawke XB1 map scope. It's not a bad scope and did the job for me this season. But it's time to upgrade.

That will work. The company is called Leupold not Leopold. Pronounced Lou-pold.

The Hawke is clear to me and does the Job. However when you look through quality Leupold glass you can really see a huge improvement. I will be posting the hawke for sale soon @ a good price if you want to try it.

I was able to try out several scopes on my bows and am still in search of that one keeper scope. I am really happy with the M355 and want the best scope that I can afford and the crossbones will fit the bill!
