Lumenock questions?

Post by bobcattrapper »

Ok so my wife got me 3 flat lumelocks to try with my Axiom deer hunting next season.I got 6 new firebolts also.No inserts in the ends yet.I will use gorilla glue to glue the regular flat nocks in 3.I ask about that on another post. I got everything from good ol Danny Miller so you know I got the right stuff. But I got no directions and the Burt coyote site don't really say much how to install this one except the part he shows to use sand paper on the end. Then he says about 3 or more places read the directions that came with em.Well like I said I got none lol So what all do I gotta do?? Thanks!!

NO GLUE for the lumenoks...If you glue them you will ruin them..I had to lightly sand the outside of the lumenoks to get them to fit in the shaft. What I do get them to fit snug, the shoot them into a target to make sure they light up...I also bought from Lumenok an arrow removal tool which is called the "fire extinguisher" . This tool is lke a pair of pliers that removes arrows from targets and also has a section to grip the lumenok to wiggle them loose to shut them off.

So if they fit a little tight I can just sand the lumenock itself. That sounds better then sanding the inside of the bolt.Yea I know not to glue those now.I meant glue is for the regular excalibur flat nocks.I hope they will wiggle out a hair for hunting.I will practice shooting em a few times on target then set em up for hunting.I think that Burt fella said to wiggle back and forth but not twist em or that may damage em.But he shows another type where he puts a tiny piece of paper in to make it fit too. Thanks for the help!

Lumenok has some good instructional videos on their web site and on youtube that should help you out.

Only lightly sand one of the raised edges on the side of the Lumenok neck till you get the fit correct between 20 and 50 pounds of force. Do not damage the two small (very small) contact points with sandpaper at the top of the neck where the lower meats the upper. 20 pounds of force is pushing reasonable with your thumb and 50 is roughly a hard push into your palm, anywhere in between is good. Also, do not twist to pull back, use a up and down rocking motion or straight pull back.

Also, check them next year before hunting. I shot a doe this year, and the nocks never lit. Got home and started playing with them, must not have had a good connection on the shaft. Pulled them out, and pushed back in, and they started working. Checked all 3 that I had. Guess that's what I get for just shooting target arrows, and not these......RR

With Luminocks the contact points are both inside the shaft and at the end of the shaft, just beneath the edge of the nock. Since carbon is not a good conductor of electricity it's important to lightly sand the end of the shaft to ensure a good contact.
