Range Finder Mount

Post by chicotrout »

I just received my new range finder mount and went to install it on my Tact Zone and it would not fit. Just wanted to point out that the ring that it comes with for mounting on the scope is over 3/4" wide (13/16" to be exact) and it will not fit on a short body scope.

Rangefinder mount is for 1" scope as well. Tac-Zone is 30mm. I'm not all that familiar with that mount but pic looks as tho you could use a diff. ring. You could call Danny Miller but he's at Boofest. Hope someone else knows for sure for you.

You are correct; fitting a ring for a 30mm scope would solve the problem if the scope weren't so compact. No issues though as I plan on getting a Crossbones which looks plenty long. Not to crazy about the temperamental field of view (FOV) or "fish eye" as I've seen it referred to on this forum. The lenses on the Tact-Zone are so close together that the FOV sweet-spot is extremely limited. Anyways, just wanted to let other newbies out there know so they don't make the same mistakes.

Anybody come up with a solution - how to mount a range finder on a Tact Zone scope? :?

There's a solution, thanks to Danny Miller. Basically, you replace one top 1/2 of a ring w/ another bottom. I'd think you have to drill out the tapped holes for clearance.......call Danny, he may sell 1/2 a ring set, lol.

I have one for my tact zone. I was going to use it as a camera mount. I didn't like it. to mount it on a tact zone contact Danny Miller. You need 2 lower piece scope rings. One will fit on the other and it will get partially bored out. This works but I just didn't care for it...and it seems like more of a pain to use on the Xbows vs. on it's own. jmo.

I exhausted all my options mounting the rangefinder mount on my tac zone so after trying to return the mount with no avail to the sporting goods shop I removed the ring and with a grinder I cut a little off each side till it fit, color each shiny side black. Done hope this helps i
