Anitperspirant and warm feet

Post by BryanOney »

Has anyone ever tried putting antiperspirant on their feet to stop them from sweating to keep their feet warm on a cold long sit on a tree stand. Does it make a difference. Negative 10 here today with a negative 30 wind chill. Thinking about hunting an unpicked soybean field tonight. May have to pull out all the stops.

What kind of boots do you wear? Are they made with a material that can breath.?

Cabela's rubber boots with 2,000 grams of thinsulate. I wear a polypropylene sock liner with a wool sock over it. I dry the boots well on a boot dryer between uses. I doubt much breathing is going on though.

Wool socks are the best answer, they will keep your feet warm even if the sweat.

Rubber boots are THE worst thing for keeping feet dry (no sweat dry) and warm. I have cold feet most of the time from late October until mid april, and I can't wear rubber boots, insulated or not. Another thing about rubber boots is that they only come in one width, so if you have even remotely wide feet up around the ball area, they will constrict blood flow unless you buy ridiculously larger sizes to allow room for your feet AND warm socks. Any compression suppresses the insulating properties of the air captured between the weave of the socks.

I learned long ago that it must be leather and/or cloth with a breathable membrane and at least 900 gram thinsulate or something similar, plus wide enough to allow a loose but secure fit with 1-2 pairs of wool socks, depending on conditions. Even then, if it's below 45 and I'm sitting for a while I put on my Arctic Shield boot covers as soon as I get settled in my stand.

I wear socks and sandals while driving to pre warm my feet and keep my boots under the heater outlet on the passenger side. If you start off with warm dry feet and warm dry boots your day will go MUCH better!!!

I have - I use an unscented spray-on type. I'm really ticklish so I hate putting it on, but it does seem to help.

I place one of these on my lower back .
Generate up to 8 to 16 hrs of soothing heat up your back.
keeps the chill away all day

Thermacare HeatWraps Neck Shoulder Wrist 3 Pack

http://www.thermacare.com/

I use the neck and wrist model because I found the Back ones to be too warm at times.
Plus you get more heat wraps for you buck $$$
