@ Strum, curious how do you like the Tact-Zone scope?

Andrew

This is from the Nikon website if your crossbow is slower or faster than the 305 FPS designed for the Nikon bolt XR crossbow scopes BDC 60 reticle.

The BDC 60 reticle was specifically designed to match the trajectory of today’s modern crossbows and provide Bolt Drop Compensation out to 60 yards, which we feel is the maximum ethical range for crossbow hunting. It is important that you determine the actual velocity of your crossbow using a chronograph as manufacturers’ specifications can vary. Most local archery pro shops have chronographs readily available for you to obtain accurate velocities from you set up. The reticle is designed to be zeroed at 20 yards with a 400 grain bolt (including a 100 grain field point, bullet point or broadhead) with the crossbow having an average velocity of approximately 305 feet per second. The ballistic circles would then provide bolt drop for 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards as seen on the next page

What if your crossbow shoots slower or faster then 305 feet per second? NO PROBLEM, just go to the Nikon Spot On website (www.nikonhunting.com/SpotOn) and you can match your exact cartridge to the reticle. In fact, we highly recommend that you check out the Spot On website as it will provide exact yardages that each circle represents, providing unparalleled ballistic data for long range shooting Please note that your crossbow may or may not match the information listed for bolt drop based upon the actual velocity of the crossbow that you own. We highly recommend that you visit www.nikonhunting.com/SpotOn

As long as you don't mind the reticles at odd distances other than equally spaced at 10yd intervals.

At these Nikon offers a solution for various crossbow speeds.

Even if your scope is sighted in for exact equal 10 yards spacing, doesn't guarantee the game will stand at these precise measurements for the shot.

running the BDC at the Nikon site using a lazer2 arrow and 125gr tip and I put in 360 fps
it says crosshair at 20yd
next retical = 32yd
next retical = 50yd

and those 32 and 50 are fairly close together
im looking at this one just because I don't care for a bunch of bells and whistles..I just want clairity..

I can assure you that using Spot On will make your shot's more accurate. If you have access to a chromo even better. The more accurate the data the more accurate your shot. I have talked to guy's that just can't get around the BDC circles not being 10 yards and the corresponding distances reflecting the data entered. I have been using this set up for 2 years now and can hit apples at 60 yards on a non windy day. Take a look at the Bolt XR and Spot On, then make your decision.

Ya Amazon prices will fluctuate like that. I see Natchez has a demo for $99 but if you are not in a hurry I would just keep an eye out and the price may drop again. I figure they are raising the price before the Presidents' Day "sale" :D
