What's a Fair Price?

Post by tman74 »

Just wondering what a fair asking price would be for a NIB Twilight DLX? I've got one collecting dust that I don't need.

Thanks :)

May I suggest you put it on the trading post and open to offers. What the market will bear will indicate a fair price. Then again, is seems that buyers on Trading Post feel that they should get things for less than what is fair.

What can I say, all you can do is try.

Well the MSRP for that scope is $300, so $150 would be realistic and fair.

50% off, wow.

For half price, I'd buy more than one, unless it was too well used of course.

Unfortunately, used optics depreciate quite quickly. I'd be surprised if you get 75% ... even if like-new>

I was sorta thinking $180 ish. I bought it to put on a Matrix but sold it before I could mount the scope. Thanks for your input guys.

Also is it legal to ship scopes across the border to the US? I know a lot of US retailers won't ship to Canada.

xcaliber wrote:I think the price should be 80% of your actual cost. That means this, you did not pay $300 for it if it came in a package, more realistically you paid somewhere around 25% less than full retail. I would say $180 is a good place to start. Do it best offer over $180, and let the buyers tell you what it's worth.

Good luck, and i hope to not wrinkle any feathers! 8)
Dan you took the words out of my mouth. MSRP is not what it retails for. If its NIB and unmounted, I'd start with 80% of the average retail price and go from there.
$180 was the exact number I came up with.

Well, Excalibur Chinese made optics don't deserve the high MSRP they have been given, so it's not really 50% in reality.

Yes I agree with you, but the subject matter is scopes. I sold both Excalibur scopes I received in my crossbow packages. When it comes to optics I don't buy made in China.

Do a raffle and get so much a chance for so many chances, Take a poll on who wants to take a chance or two and maybe you will get what it is worth. Just a thought. 10.00 a chance ...say 20-25 chances.
