Here's a pic of me with a Robertson Stykbow back in the 90s.
A cedar arrow and a Bear Razorhead is the medicine for saber tooth groundhogs.

All the back injuries weren't the reason I switched to a crossbow, bone spurs in my shoulder finally put an end to that fun. :(
Wabi- now you are talking my kind of hunting-The ole stick bows-I miss them shooting days for sure!!!!!

I'll admit it took me a couple years to convert to the crossbow. The old stick & string was so simple. No rangefinders, no scopes or sights, no long thought process before trying a shot................
I may have to give some thought to having the bone spurs removed someday.
(actually thought of it when diagnosed, but the doctor told me they could grow right back)

Mike, it is always good to share some old pictures, and stories. I might have to dig out my old Browning Bush Master crossbow, takes me back into the 80's!

when I first got into archery the Bear bruin was the bow to buy..
I almost got one but I opted for a whitetail 2..it was a pretty great bow for its day. I used it to bow fish with also ..almost indestructible.
Mike its a good thread I wish I could find some of my old pics to post ..I was probably stoned in most of them..may be why I cant find em

Wabi, your lookin like that woodchuck owed you lots of money,l.o.l..! Thanks for sharing the pic. Bow looking temptingly sweet.
I started with a little glass 25lber. Then a Root recurve, followed by an Outers magnesium freeze you to your shoulder two wheeler, and last an 1981? (Last year built probably)Hoyt impala. Shot it a couple years ago from the chair but its not like before and a group don,t happen. No regrets,no tree climbing but the cross bows are going to allow getting out hunting in the best weather and deer behavior of the year again.
Mike ,from the looks of the trophies you had me whupped. Fair nuff.
