Thinking About a 380

Post by Winchester 70 »

I just got into Crossbow Hunting and I purchased a Crossbow from another Manufacturer. Nice bow, fast, very capable, but had I researched the Excalibur a little more and seen some of the vids I have seen on the 380, I would have purchased one.

My question is should I hold out for the 405 to et all the bugs worked out, or would the 380 do everything I need a crossbow to do. I turkey hunt, deer hunt, and am thinking about Bear Hunting in the near future with maybe even a hog hunt or two thrown in.

Thanks in advance for your help and input.

The 380 will do everything you ask it to unless T Rex comes off the endangered list in the near future.

Unless your a big dude with a lot of a$$ behind you I would stick with the 380. I have the 380 and love it. I honestly would not want to pull back anymore then the 380.It will kill everything your hunting and then some probably even an elephant.

I have a 355 and I would not worry about any game with it! 380 will do you plenty!

If you miss out on that one, call Wyvern Creations, or if you live near a Dunham's sporting goods, get their 20%, or 30% new customer coupon, and that will be your best price. Danny Miller at Horizontal Archery is also great guy to deal with!

Good Luck, the hard part is over, making the decision!

I agree with the others, my 380 if fantastic - I bought it as my first bow as a result of the opinions of so many on this site. Lots of good advice available here.

Definitely the Matrix 380 vs the Matrix 405. The Matrix 380 will easily dump over any animal of your choosing if you do your part.

X2! If I didnt already have one I'd be looking real hard at that one, that's a great price considering the Leupold scope and all the accessories!

Well, I put my Compound Crossbow up for sale to see if I have any takers. If not, I will give it to my son.

I think from what I've heard, the M380 is the bow that will be nicer to shoot more. Gentler loading and so on. Keep in mind, for years the fastest bows in the lineup were 350fps. The biggest North American game was taken with these and I saw footage of Bill T. shooting an elephant with an equinox. Based on those standards the M355 is more powerful than the entire pre matrix lineup. Just info to keep in mind. Good luck.
