Spy Point rangefinder

Post by dabluz »

I just bought a (used) Spy Point laser rangefinder. The Spy-1500pro. This is my first rangefinder. It says on the box that the range is from 15 yards to 1500 yards.

Anyway, I doubt I will spot any game at 1500 yards.....maybe a mountain. What really surprised me was that I can get readings as close as 4 yards. Where I do some shooting in the basement, it's 10 yards (tape measure) and the rangefinder tells me "10 yards". It even gives me consistent ranges under 10 yards in the basement. SpyPoint is a Quebec based company.

I don't know much about rangefinders. I only held a Simmons at a 120 dollars for a few minutes at a store. The SpyPoint is fast and has "scanning" mode so that if I move from one object to another, the distances are indicated on the screen. Magnification is 7X so I can pick out small objects. Seems to work great in low light conditions (in town)....lol.

OK...it's not tiny but it is waterproof and uses ordinary batteries.
