welcome newbie!.. all the Excaliburs are great. hold a few and see which model you like. Matrix is smaller so would get my vote but an Equinox for the right price is a winner. hope i helped. maybe buy both

I am 75 and have an Equinox and absolutely love it. I can cock & uncock the CB while in my tree stand. The Equinox & 380 will shoot through any animal that you choose to hunt. Example of the Equinox accuracy.

i think the equinox feels the best of the two does the equinox need the s5 string suppresors to quiet the string ? are the 20in arrows better to shoot than the 18in on the matrix ? by the time you add a better scope and the s5 suppresors and a guardian anti dry fire device it will be cheaper to get a matrix already loaded with features i am full of questions cause i dont really know much about these

I am unsure of how someone arrived at same in speed for both. Unless they have done a lot to the Equinox since the one I owned there is little comparison. The 380 is much nicer size and weight wise and a good deal faster. The 380 is much more accurate at longer distances.

No offense to Nox lovers, (I used to be one too), but if you want heavier, slower, bulkier and wider, then go with an equinox.

The 380 wins hands-down!

I had a Exomax for 4 years and just sold it, great bow! However I am anxiously looking forward to the purchase of a smaller, faster, just as accurate, 380 or 405. If nothing else as a hunter the smaller size of the Matrix is worth a whole lot to me. The Matrix family is just a superior hunting design in my opinion than the older style Excaliburs as good as they are.

I arrived at the same speed/close to anyway with usin a 400gr arrow out of the 380 it gets mid 350's. Nutten wrong wid a Equinox model. The Matrix is a more compact and a tad faster a few fps. Unless you use 350gr arrows. Then the 380 is much faster
