Good hunting arrow for Matrix 380

Post by 884savage »

I know I'm asking a loaded question here, but I'm new to Excalibur, and I'd like opinions on what arrow setups have worked for you with the 380. Arrow, broad head, fletchings, inserts, the whole build. I know every bow will fire a specific setup differently. I've shot enough to know that. I'm asking for what has worked for you. I would like to use lighted nocks, so if you've built an arrow that has flown well with the 380 with a lighted nock, I'd love to know your setup. Thanks in advance for any help in the right direction.

Black Eagle Arrow Executioner, 80/92/110 gr brass insert and Blazers put on with an Arizona EZ Fletch Bolt.
The ultimate shaft is the Zombie 0.001" or second is the Executioner in 0.001". Both will be accurate enough for some serious informal target accuracy.
If you are only hunting then the 0.003" Executioner will be more than good enough.
The 380 will accomodate 20" to 18" assuming a compact crossbow type broadhead.
Any of the above combination will work well for it's intended purpose in any bow. Black Eagle Arrow makes a fantastic shaft.

I'm running BEE 18" spine indexed .001 shafts. Fletched with blazers blitz jig straight clamp slight rt offset. 94 gr brass inserts 100 gr grizztrick2 broadheads.
I'm using accuspine/camx flat alum 12gr nocks.
Very good shooting combo out of my 380 out to 60 yds

I like the Zombies, a bit stiffer arrow with only .1 grain per inch more weight. I am going to a single vane tool as well. Just to make more precise vane placement. All of the above are great answers.

I bought 5 dozen diablo shafts, used the standard flat nock, 80 grain brass front insert, and 2" blazer vanes with a 125 grain head, with outstanding accuracy. Had my first robin hood at 40 yards last weekend. regards jeff~

18" Zombies, 2"blazers, e-z bolt fletcher, Luminoks, 92gr brass inserts, 100gr field points and toxic broadheads. <2" - 3 1/2" groups from 80yards-110yards.

Thanks for all of the replies. It looks like building the arrows on Black eagles website is pretty easy. As I do just that, another question arises, and then I'll be done with all the question for an hour or two. An 18 inch arrow with 2 inch blazers and 92 grain inserts and a 100 grain head and a lumenok creates an FOC of around 18. Is that what your FOC is on the arrows you've created? I think I've mimicked what the posts here have said, and I keep coming up with a high FOC. The only remedy that I've come up with is to use a different insert (can the ones installed with the arrows be removed?) Without the 92 grain insert, the FOC drop down to around 10. Suggestions???

Make this EASY ! PM "BigJohn", tell what you have and what you want, Paypal him some money, and a few days you will recieve some "Killer" arrows that are really works of art. NOBODY is ever disappointed in his arrows! And having him build them wont be too much different in price from you getting all the stuff and doing it yourself. He's a really good guy to deal with and a great product. Just a thought.
