Hawke XB30 pro vs XB30 on Matrix 380

Hello fellow Excalibur owners.

I have a choice of these three aftermarket scopes for my Matrix 380 bow.

Can anyone who has tried one or both (preferably) comment on which they prefer and why. I am only hunting in a tree stand or ground blind. Currently don't plan to take it on a long trek - just my the forest in my back 40 so I think weight isn't an issue.

Best optics for night time is what I'm after.

What say you?

How about replacement 30 mm rings for the bow instead of the mounting assemblies that come with these scopes. Anyone running these? How high and what brand?

I have had both scopes on top of a 405. The original Xb 30 has a speed ring that only goes up to 360 fps. It might work for you, but it might be a bit of a hassle. The Xb 30 pro has a speed ring that goes up to 450 fps I believe. The one drawback in my opinion is the 30 yard aiming point is the bottom of the circle around the 20 yard dot. Many are not fond of that. The glass on both is really good for the money. Another one to consider is the Hawke Xb1 1.5-5X32 Sr scope. It has a speed ring that goes up to 425 fps, is light and compact and has pretty good glass and good aiming points. I would contact Wyvern Creations. I doubt his prices can be beat.

X2 Great post! Don't have a 405, but have or had all those scopes mentioned.

I am using medium mount Hawke match grade. I have also used Buriss Zee steel rings in a couple of different heights.

I see what you guys mean about the bottom of the circle 30. Yes I think it is a bit silly of a design.

I suspect my shots will be 20 yards or less or 40-50 yards.

My stand is located about 20 yards from a fence line and looking out to the fence line with the clearing below the stand. I can hunt on either side of the fence line.

I see deer either inside the fence line within 20 yards or beyond the fence line at a 40+ yards since it is a nice open pasture past the fence.

So strangely enough this design likely won't bother me one bit. It is almost designed perfectly for my application!

I have the XB30 Compact 1.5-5x32 Hawke code HK3263 On my Matrix 380 and like it a lot and all my rifle scopes are Leupold and Nikons, good glass and I like the reticle as well which is a series of small crosshairs. Speed dial adjustment range is 250 fps- 425 fps. Wyvern Creations has them on clearance for a great price in my opinion. Ask for David. JMO
