I have a Matrix 380 that I bought last fall and never took the string out when I stored it. It has only been shot about 10-15 times.
Getting ready for the season this year and noticed that the string has stretched somewhat as it is biting against he suppressors a reasonable amount.
I was going to replace it with a factory string but I ran across these Boo strings which look neat so I'm going to order one but it will be after the season that it will be delivered.
How much should I be concerned about this? Guessing the worst that could happen is that I could lower the life of my suppressors while I wait for the Boo string to come in. Or should I purchase a factory one right away?
I apologize if this is a silly question but I'm new to cross bows.
Need to change string?
Re: Need to change string?
Your string needs to be shorted by twisting one end counter clockwise. The string creeps and gets longer with time and tension. Expect 14 to 18 full twists when the creep slows down.
You want a 1/4" between the bumpers and the string.

Re: Need to change string?
Make a white paint mark on the side of the rail to denote 1/4" between the string and the bumpers. When you are done shooting for the day, raise the string to about 1/2" by twisting the string counter clockwise. This will preload the string more and accelerate the creep process. When you're ready to shoot just lower the string to the mark.
