Have is a pick before wet sanding. Hope that you can see the shine on the cheek.

This is after I wet sanded it with 320grit. Notice the shine is gone and the wood has a deep luster.

I use the finish for wet sanding. The 320grit is the workhorse and take the surface finish down and fills the grain. Next the 400grit which still takes a little off but start to polish also. All this has to be done no more than 24 hours after the last coat of finish because this finish gets rock hard and unworkable. And then you are how you say screwed. :D

Wet sanded all the way to 1500grit. Need to let the finish cure over the weekend and then I can wax it. Drill holes for the rail screws and one for the sling and she be done. Hope you like it Alan. :D

Glad that you like it Allan. That Quilted maple is the most unpredictable wood I've used. Take a look at the blank when I started and it did not show ANY dark lines in it at all. Where did they come from.

Ok folks, here is the finished product. Unfortunately I don't have a background as nice as Vixenmaster's recent pics but I am still trying :D

That is so gorgeous I can't even believe it...and I've followed along from the beginning. Truly a piece of art. Wow! I see you use the Optimizer as well, is the cheek piece higher than the stock cheek piece and if so much how much?
