Good morning all. Shot an 8 pointer this morning. Rest to follow. Gutting and dragging to do. Wanna get this deer outta here before yogi shows up.

Here goes the rest of the story.

It was one of those days
Woke up this morning with a killer headache on only 2 hours of sleep. Dad was supposed to come but didn't and the same for my uncle. Decided to go regardless. In NJ bow hunting is only allowed on certain state land. Luckily one of the places it's legal happens to be a place my family has hunted for years.

I told my uncle I was going to sit in one of his spots so he would know where I was since I was going to be by myself. Got to the tree a little late. While trying to set up my climber I made a ton of noise. I felt like I had made a ton of noise and seeing a deer was completely outta the question.

Finally got set up around 6:20. And again felt like this was a complete waste of a day. Took out my range finder to start ranging a couple of trees "just in case". Then saw the white tail flicking. It was 70 yards out, and as if on queue, he started towards me. He made it to about 20 yards before I decided it was time for him to take a dirt nap. Squeezed off the trigger and watched deer walk about 120 yards and seem like nothing happened.

Came down and luckily found my arrow. It had rained last night and the arrow looked clean. Luckily found a spot of hair on the ground. Where I last saw the deer is where he expired.

Ended up taking a slight quartering to shot. In behind shoulder out through liver. These bows are deadly........ Feels great to finally break in the Matrix.
