Oh well, sorry you feel that way. You are correct that your subspecies (Osceola) of Whitetail deer are on the average smaller than what we have. You are also correct that overpopulation leads to inferior animals. Hunting is the only form of realistic population control. Soooooooo......... Having a soft spot for does who may have fawns may be totally normal, but darn sure NOT GOOD for the subject at hand!
I have never understood the "we only shoot does before they get bred" or "without fawns" philosophy. A doe taken from the herd before she is bred is no different than after she was bred: one doe and her future offspring removed from the herd.
On the fawn side, once they are weened they can live without their mother, BUT, if overpopulation is the problem as you say, why do you want MORE fawns?????
I'm sure to take some heat on this, but before any of you call me out, please use logic instead of feelings.......
if deer overpopulation of any area is a problem for ANY reason, the only realistic solution to the problem is to remove more deer from the herd every season until you get back to the carrying capacity that said area can maintain!By the way, I never intended to rain on your parade: if the bucks in those pics are good for you, more power to you, fire away!
