Rope Cocker

Post by way123hockey »

After the post by gendoc and his rope cocker failure, I decided to do a quick inspection on my three rope cockers. I noticed that on two of the three rope cockers I own, the brass rollers were gummed up and were not rolling. This will definitely wear out the rope in a much shorter time and will wear a flat spot on the roller preventing it from rolling correctly. After a little WD40 on the roller pin (both sides) and turning the rollers by hand I managed to get them moving again. May be a good idea to check occasionally.

One thing I'm guilty of is having the rope around the trigger unit rather than the groove in the stock. Puts a pretty good cut in the rope.

yeah Don, I can see where that could be a problem area.....
the several times I have tried it, I made sure the string was in its correct
contact areas.

BTW
your string survived very well, just need to twist a lil'bit
for optimum brace height.
the S5's are being encroached.............

To be clear John, I was not suggesting that that is what happened in your scenario.

Had that happen today --- was dialing in some new broadheads and was distracted by somebody walking up to me and asking a question ---
