Matrix 405 Yardage question

Hello all, new to the forum..

I scoped in my 405 in at 20 yards. I have found that it is dead on at 20 and 40. When I shoot it at 30 yards I am 3-4 inches high....


is that normal? Anyone else found the same?

Instead of 40 try 60 then see how well the rest full in to place.

Thanks for the reply but I am not sure I understand, should I try to get the bottom crosshair set to 60 yards?

If i had the 405 id have the first sight set up for 30 yards and then let the rest fall into place after that.. Usually is the way to go with faster speed bows..

Can you give a little more info as to how you're setting up your marks. It sounds to me like you just need to adjust your speed dial to match your setup. If you're zeroed at 20yards, off a good solid bench rest, use your 50yard hash mark to dial it in at 50yards. ie. If your arrow hits low at 50yards (when using your 50yard hash mark), hold your 50yard hash mark on the bullseye and adjust the speed ring until it's on the arrow you just shot. That should get you all lined up.

Any idea what speed to start with? I will gladly back it off. At 20 yards its hard to see anything but brown...

Don't get too hung up on the numbers on the speed dial. All it really is, is magnification power. In other words, it's a variable power scope. The lowest speed might be 2X and the highest speed may be 6X.
So here is my suggestion for setup. As a starting point, turn your speed dial to 380. This is only a start. Zero your bow in at 20yards which you have already done. As already stated, you need to do this off a bench with a solid rest. Now, seeing as you've already said you have a place to shoot 40yards, use your 40yard mark and see where you hit. Leave the arrow in the target. At this stage it really helps to have someone to help you. (Not mandatory, but much easier) If your arrow hits high, hold your 40yard mark on the bullseye and turn the speed dial 'faster' until your 40yard mark is perfectly lined up with the arrow you just shot. You will actually see your hash marks get closer together or further apart. I hope this helps. It can seem daunting in the beginning but you'll get it. What scope are you using? We need more information. If it's a single xhair scope, this isn't unusual.
