ATV crossbow mount question?

Post by Patriot* »

After this past seasons success harvesting (6) whitetail deer here in Western NC, we decided to give our backs a break and purchase a hunting ATV. We will take delivery this week of a 2015 Honda Rincon 700.
I have been looking at crossbow mounts for the Rincon and wanted to ask if anyone has used the Bowkaddy? The Bowkaddy looks like its really a nice simple design. I would appreciate some feedback if you are using the Bowkaddy mount or any other secure mounting system that would be highly recommended.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Do search on this site for crossbow quad mount and you will see links to photos
of one that I built. we have 2 quads that these are mounted on and neither my gf or i have had any issues, but then we are hunting, not riding balls to the wall.
I put them in a soft case and strap them in. you just have to use common sense when riding with any weapon strapped to a quad.

Thanks for the pic link. I think I may go with the bowkaddy. I have sent an email to bowkaddy and am waiting to hear back. I want to keep the matrix on the front rack where I always see It, just a preference.

I built this one, works for crossbows as well as rifles, and leaves the front rack free for my bag.

I built another one like it to fit my buddy's Foreman. He shoots a Barnett and with the gunracks turned toward the front the bow clears the headlight and handlebars and still leaves the front rack free to haul deer, and it puts the bow or gun within easy reach.

This is what I use on the front rack of my Rancher. Works real well with enough adjustment to configure for bow, gun or crossbow.

X2 on that suggestion. I put my Matrix in the Tombstone case and use the big adjustable bungee cords to keep the case tied down. We do not drive fast to our hunting spots, however going through some spots on the trail with pooled water causes some splashing up on the case. I wrap the tombstone case in a big plastic contractor trash bag to keep the splashed mud off of it.

Also in NY, there is rain at the beginning of the season and snow near the end, so the case protectsthe Xbow from the elements as well.
