Post by MI Yeti »

My excalibur rope cocking aid is fraying about three inches down from the right handle . I have used it for about 125 shots . Is wear this fast common ? I have not mistreated it .

I would replace it with some U.S.A. made paracord, there is the 550, and the 650 and it comes in at least 100 patterns, and colors. Just make sure its made in U.S.A. Great cord fer sure...

I find that the brass rollers on the rope cocker can get gummed up and stop rolling. I check and lubricate them periodically.

Mine did the same with half that use, Excalibur replaced it for free but I admit I do not trust the cord so much now. para cord is twice the diameter, is that what people are switching too ?

para cord is stronger per diameter than regular rope and comes in several different sizes.

Did you check the cocking hook on the right side for any burrs or rough spots? I assume that you always cock with the hooks down as I do. There may be something fraying the rope on that side & about the only thing it could be is the hook.

Thanks for the heads up Mike. There is a MEC in Barrie. I will have to check it out.

The hooks and their rollers are free of burs and debris . Yes i use it hooks down each time . Paracord is to thin to fit properly , I have some us made 550 and it is about half the diameter of the rope on the cocking aid .

I also looked over my Danny Miller stringing aid and it is wearing were the latch catches it .I'll buy some rope when i can afford it .What diameter of AmSteel you guys use ?
