My favorite tactic - a stealthy ambush has worked many times for me.
I like the shotgun, too. I'd like to see the true percentages for birds shot with an arrow and birds recovered. I know where I hunt there have been 2 or 3 shot with a crossbow in the past few years (not me doing the shooting) and 0 recovered (unless you count what was left of the one I found 2 days later with an arrow still in it).
