Most Reliable Matrix?

Post by Geoff_R »

Hi folks I don't in anyway want to start a controversial post but I'm new to crossbows and have lurked here a while. I'm based in the UK and because service is across a fairly large pond and I'm looking for a "trouble free" Excalibur experience. I have settled on either the 330 or the 355 as it seems the lower draw weights are less stressed. I'll add that I had a stroke in January this year and I've recovered well but draw weight especially in awkward situations, tree stands and blinds is a consideration. I've bowhunted since the early 80's but post stroke and now crowding 60 decided to move to a crossbow. Any thoughts and insights would be greatly appreciated.

I would go with the 330 simply because it is easier to cock and the older we get the harder it is to cock. I am 58 and have had back and hernia surgery, and my shoulders are getting bad. I have the 310 for every day shooting and the 330 for hunting and just love them :)

I love my 355... it's easy to cock and has all the killing power you would ever need. It's nice and compact as well,,, very easy to handle.

Thanks for the replies so far folks.....I had pretty much talked myself into the 330 with all the extras and whatever one I go for I'll add a spare set of limbs as well just to be safe.

Like said.. The 330 and the 355 matrix gets my vote. Really never hear of any problems from either crossbow......

I have a 355 and a Phoenix. Bought the Matrix 355 and it has seen fairly casual use in one year. However I did check it over real good this spring and found the right limb tip starting to split. Put in a warranty request, sent in the riser and got a new set of limbs back in about a week. No dry fires or questionable arrow seating on the 355 by the way. No trouble with the Phoenix and it gets shot a lot. I think the matrix line is still good though

If you get the 330 you shouldn't need any extra limbs, and pretty rare to see limbs going bad on the 355 too.

Thanks guys for the advice. I think I'll give the 330 a go.....the reduced draw weight over the 355 is of benefit as well. I'll let you all know what I think when I get it. Cheers
