Black 405

Post by MickB »

Hi guys, is there any option to get a 405 in black or blackout style, or any single tone. For those of us who don't need/want camo?

Supposedly Excal made a "run" for him.

The vendor claims that Excalibur has done a "special run" for his shop.

Perhaps someone from Excalibur can weigh-in on this subject and also provide a sample photo of the bow because the picture provided from the seller is that of a Carbon Fiber Matrix 380... NOT A BLACK 405. Just so the buyer knows what he is looking at.... Not trying to start trouble, just offering my opinion.

Ummm.. The buyer who brought this matter to your attention on the other site stated that he called Excalibur and was told that they did manufacture the bow in black as a special order for the seller. In fact you quoted that in the other thread on this subject on here. The seller never commented at all on the matter.

Money520:
Well I just talked to dawn from Excal for the 2nd time and she says it's legit they done a run of the 380s and the 405s that are all black. She apologized from yesterday saying her sales department didn't let her know about these, but she said there are good an all covered under warranty.

Incorrect:

Actually, and initially Excalibur told him no at first and then upon a second call Excalibur did confirm that there was a "run" for this shop as well as confirmation from the vendor as displayed in the buyers post below.

The buyer in his post #59 on 8-18 states in his reply:

"Excalibur made a special run of these Black Matrix bows for us. We have the bow pictured just as described. This is not a carbon fiber looking bow. It looks just like the bow pictured in the auction. I have the camo 380's in stock but my cost is a lot higher on them. I can let you have the camo 380 for $925."

I would think that this response came from PM. Probably in an email to the buyer..NO?
Considering in that statement there is the mention from PM of an upsell or additional cost for the camo version.

I have one but a 380. I will post pictures of it when I get a chance. Good finish on mine. Solid black not the grey black checkers on the black out bows.

Here is a another post from another forum member in that same thread who actually ordered a Matrix 380 Blackout and received the same black bow.. He returned it and probably on his dime as well.

I fell in this trap too. I just dropped mine off at the Post Office! On its way back to Pine Mountain Archery. That was a load of crap! I ordered a Matrix 380 Blackout because I liked the carbon fiber look with the gray anodized rail and what I received was exactly what you have pictured. A black painted plain jane cheap looking crossbow. I could even see the camo through the black on my rails. This was shoddy business practice if you ask me. For $900.00 I expect to get what I am supposed to get. I already had a triggertech trigger ordered with extra arrows from Wyverns. Dave from Wyverns will be taking care of me shortly after this BS is behind me and I will get the real deal 380 Blackout! My last dealings with Pine Mountain Archery or Mountain Heritage Archery or whatever they want to call themselves!

AGAIN, the issue is not that Excalibur is making PM a "Black" or doing a "special run of black ony" Matrix bow. The ISSUE is how it is represented by the vendor on ebay..

Honestly, if anyone here knows anyone at PM, perhaps you could let them know that what they are advertising in their adds is not what they have pictured.. It's not right either to any buyer that when the bow does arrive and you don't like it, you have to pay for the return shipping either because the bow received is not the bow pictured for sale.. Not everyone has the time and $$ to jockey back and forth to deal with a situation like this, thus one of the reasons to make sure you are getting what you pay for... That's why a picture is worth a thousand words..lol.... You get your written/verbal description then a picture to validate the product....Especially online..

Guys, I tried explaining to PM about the picture and confusion through an email.

This is the response I got back from them...Mind you I did not order one. I saw a fellow forum member in a situation and instantly saw where the confusion was because as an Excalibur fanboy, I've not seen a recent "all black" bow other than the Matrix Cub..

anyway below is the whole email back and forth and keep in mind it reads from the most recent response down to the first initial contact by me....

PM to me and last contact with them: New message from: pine-mountain-archery Top Rated Seller(92,299PurpleShooting Star)
To be honest I am not sure. I am selling a Black bow and have listed a Black bow. My picture nor description show or state a Carbon fiber finish bow. However if your not happy with your purchase you can return it and we will issue you a refund.

Me to PM: Hmm.. The Excalibur catalog pics and wedbsite shows the Matrix 380 "Blackout" as a carbon fiber finish on the limbs and on the stock and the rail and riser are a grey anodized finish. As does the photo on your on Ebay add. Your photo does not show an all black bow.. Not sure if you are aware of the difference. I can definitely see buyer confusion in this situation. Though the wording in your heading does say a "black" crossbow package, the image is different than the worded description.

The term "Blackout" depicts a certain finish within that model line.IE: Carbon Fiber finish. In the image used in the add, the term 'Blackout" is used, so I guess the buyer assumes he is bidding on a carbon fiber finish on his bow.. Yes?
pine-mountain-archery:

PM to: I am not sure. The bow we are selling is called a blackout model which the entire bow is black. It is not a carbon fiber finish bow.
Your previous message

Me to PM: Oh ok, because the pic in the add is of the Matrix 380 "Blackout" which is the carbon fiber finish.. How would I know to bid on a "blackout" model?

Thanks.
pine-mountain-archery:

PM to me: This is the painted all black bow.
Your previous message

Me to PM: Hello, Is this bow a "Blackout" model whereas it has the carbon fiber finish or is it painted all black..

Thanks

I know i would never order any thing from pine mt archery. I've read there 45 bad reviews in the last month, They are simply wrong and shady to me, even with members here saying they had a no problem experience with them its nuts.. Anybody here can go to his site and see for them selves, and listen to the customers that have been affected by this. If it is not enough, and you still continue dealing with this guy? Well aaa. Thanks again Grassy Knoll as said before your post's has already helped some avoid this Rip off. Yaa Buddy.....

Well this is a fine "how do you do",,,,,,,,

That is where I ordered my bow from (head in hands).

So my blackout will not be a blackout when it arrives on Monday?

I guess they get you at the drive through every time.

Does anyone on here have one of these Faux Blackouts they are keeping and using? Were they painted by PM or by Excalibur? What is the downside other than having been bait / switched?

Pictures of my 380. Cheak piece is the blackout checker board so you can really see the difference. I will be keeping it, could have easily sent it back but actually like this color more. As of today I see no issues with the finish. I can understand why some are upset and agree the vendor is being a little shady but for the price I paid I couldn't be happier. Purchased my Equinox from this guy in the past, another good deal.

Thanks livtahunt - that was what I needed to know - feeling a little relieved. Didnt know if I should expect a Rustoleum finish or what.....

I agree, that is not a bad looking finish as opposed to the other "Black" bow. The coating does appear to be a factory finish.

Still not the bow pictured in their auction though, which is my "ONLY" issue.

Livtahunt, is it possible to post up a photo of the whole bow, because as it appears, it does not look bad and I would not knock your bow regardless. You are happy with it and that is what counts for you..

Good shooting with it.

Thanks

FYI: your brace height looks a little low :D

Yeah got a stringer last week. Had to send a tact zone back so got that replaced last week as well. Got that leveled and mounted down yesterday. Reflected my arrows Friday night so I just need to fix that brace height and I'm ready to shoot this thing again. Will post a full pic later.
