Cusing myself

Post by kd8jgu »

Climbed into blind at 6:45
Have had a pack of 60 - 80lb hogs coming in
Temp was 92 when I climbed in stand
Sun went down temp started to fall 8:15 started to hear
movement in woods
Lights on feeder start to light up
Picked up Grizzly
Hogs come in at 25 yard marker
Heart starts to race a boar I have wanted is leading the pack
Drop cross hairs take a deep breath bow goes off
Bolt flies over the back of the boar
I realize I jerked the shot 9 months waiting for this shot
Thanks for listening
May my aim be true and my arrow fly straight

Good read regardless if you missed or not. I'm going nuts waiting to hunt something and enjoy when other members post up their hunts, successful or not.

Stinks that you did man, but go after him ASAP and redeem that shot... :)

Sorry to hear but a miss is better then a wounded animal. You can get a redo of the one kind of shot another time but you can't undo the other.

Good luck!

Hey ---- Happens.. All you can do, is get up dust yourself off, you have already cussed and kicked yourself in the butt. You know what you did wrong..Next go at it, try and not make that same mistake. It's gonna all come together... Make it so.. Good luck....

I absolutely MUFFED UP a shot last fall on a huge doe. She came in with a few other does and fawns and from he mannerism and size was probably the lead doe.

Anyway she finally came in from circling the bait awhile and every damn time I had her in my cross hairs for a "perfect" broadside or slight quartering away shot a fawn would go right behind her where the arrow would pass through during the shot.

This happened at least FOUR times and that bigger would just be there UGH.

Anyway, she finally moved away enough for me to get a good slight quartering away shot. Put the cross hairs on her aiming for the back right shoulder, squeezed the trigger and watched my lighted nock zip out towards her and drill her low .

I was ticked to say the least, Esp when i found the arrow with only some fur and greasy residue on it. I looked two days just in case but from what other hunters I know saod, it sounded like I hit her in the brisket and although sore, she should be 9k.

It sucks but it happened and this was off my tripod from my groundblind.
