Re: Tree stand death
Bound to be a little more to it . Plenty of folks can trip over a chalk line drawn on a sidewalk .
Its a sad thing none the less .

Re: Tree stand death
RIP for the hunter. Condolences to his family. He most likely died at his favourite hobby. Shame though how things happen.
Re: Tree stand death
My HSS vest I thought was the best thing I could do for treestand safety, until I trusted a dam branch that broke and the strap on the vest tore completely and down I went 22 ft .. Thank God I walked away though...The season just got started and somebody died from falling already ... People use a safety line and stay hooked in until your feet are on the ground

Ouch! Guess it is a matter of time till the T.s.s.a. steps in and looks after tree stands like elevators, stuffed animals, gas regulation and everything else they convinced the government they need.
Re: Tree stand death
A tragic end for sure. My condolences to all affected.
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

Re: Tree stand death
It bothers me to see these things happen. I'm 61 and not near the agility I had years ago. My ladder stand is down to 10ft. now maybe that is not near as high as it should be. I just don't trust myself to be any higher I wear a vest type safety harness and when it's wet or windy I head for the ground blind. I'm thinking of making the ground blind my only way to hunt. Sadly I hunt with a friend who will not use a safety harness I am on him every time we hunt to please put it on . When we don't hunt together I make him call me at dark. If he doesn't call or forgets I head out to where we hunt. I wish I knew how to make more of an impact on him to put the darn safety harness on I'm afraid some evening I'm going to find him on the ground.
