I'd just like to say in my defense that I can put finger guards on or not. And, for fear of finger pointing, no I am not going to look into what transpired between the two of us. I blame it all on DON. I always said his strings are really sharp.

Just so everybody knows - Aging made the stock exactly the way I wanted it. The fault is all mine for not paying attention.

I say that you got luck that you still have a tumb left. I heard that the string can takem clean off.

Wasn't a dry-fire, but I did raise my thumb once while letting loose on a 6 point over 25 yrs ago. No blood, but I dang near threw the crossbow out of the tree. Needless to say, I learned to keep my left thumb out of the strings path. I was afraid to look at it for a minute or two, just sit there holding it while it throbbed.

I feel for you, hope you heel well and soon.

So how did you do this exactly?? Are the rails smaller on the newer bows or do you have long digits? Because my fingers and thumb are no where near long enough to make it on top the rail ?
