Depends upon which one you have...
More noise reduction on the bigger models - not much on the smaller ones.

From the website, "The lightweight Air Brakes are constructed of an ultra-modern energy absorbing compound and will reduce recoil energy and noise on any Matrix or Micro model crossbow.Tests show an eight-decibel reduction in noise without reduction in arrow speed. The kit comes complete with bars, pads and mounting hardware, installation takes only minutes."

I have also been told by a reliable source that the rubber pads do not last long.

That seems somewhat strange as all they do is compress and relax when the bow is cocked. Do you mean that they deteriorate or remain compressed over a period of time or what ??

I have the air brakes on my 405 and Micro, they take away a lot of vibration and some noise. But I also have my rails filled with foam, stirrup wrapped with rubber splicing electrical tape and the camo tape on top of it. Also have shrink wrap on the arrow retainer. The only problem I have had is with the rubber pad came of the right brake. I cocked the bow and used gorilla glue, once setup I uncock the bow. No other problems like the pads deteriorating.

Aren't they the same thing as the dissipator bars on the older series bows? They seemed to hold up fine.

They appear to be the same, not sure if they exert more pressure on the limb or not. Different color and the rubber is not as hard and is softer.

No, they are a softer rubber. I have them on my 330 and they do help a little. But the rubber is softer than the dissipators on the vixen I had.
I suggest talking to Danny Miller if you want expert advice on them

Just be sure to let us know what he tells you.

I put these on "Mercy", matrix 330. And yes they did dampen noise slightly. And I'm being honest on the slightly part. I'm my opinion they did hardly anything to the bow but give it a more aggressive look. I'd only recommend them only if you want to give your bow a little more aggressive look. Sorry to the people that may differ in opinions but this is just my opinion and I have a lot of sh*t on this bow, its blinged out pretty good.

I have the airbrakes and they are holding up good so far. The bow was bought in feb. I believe that what they do is stop the bow faster and keep the limbs from over extending. This maybe, not sure about it just my opinion why some are having problems limbs breaking. I have only about 200 or 300 shots on it. Excal said in video that their bow should last at 3000 shots before the string breaks. I would like them to produce a video with the 405 mega. I believe they ran the test with the 355 & 380.

This video is sold on Excalibur and I hope its a honest test.
