Custom Products and Components -- for Crossbows and Arrows.

Post by Hi5 »

You can buy "factory" arrows. Or, you can buy custom made arrows. We have good makers here on this site. Or, you can buy components and make your own.

You can buy custom stocks. We have folks here on this site who make them.

You can buy custom stirrups. We have folks here who sell them.

You can buy custom rubber knobbies to replace the factory version. You know the kind that stop string slap.

You can buy custom strings. Several good makers are on this site.

You can buy custom triggers. The maker frequents this site.

You can buy replacement bolts made of titanium. The distributor visits this site.

Here's the point of all my rambling. Last night, as I was installing the replacement limbs onto my 405, I started thinking, why hasn't somebody started making custom limbs? All the other custom items are considered an upgrade in some way or another. So, why not limbs?

Pretty sure that would void the warranty...and the warranty couldn't be better.
But if you are looking for a frankenbow there are options for you. lol

Does using a custom string, trigger, stirrup, titanium bolts, or stock, void warranty? Of course not. Is it a "frankenbow" to have any or all these components switched out?

People customize rifles to the point that about the only factory original piece left is the action, and even that is tinkered with and improved. Why would we oppose a approach to crossbows?

That's news to me. I've never tinkered with limbs.

Are there custom limb makers, or are guys simply sticking on a different mainline brand?

Most of the items listed are bought and assembled or like the Dr. Stirrup require specialized molding tools. Limbs would require specialized molding tools and thorough testing. More than most people not in the industry would want to invest I'm thinking.
But on the flip, I've often wondered why my ILF limbs on my vertical recurve are more advanced than my crossbow limbs. Why are we not seeing advanced bias ply carbon fiber laminated limbs. My guess is that with the M405 and the Micro series they are approaching the limit of what can be achieved with decent longevity and durability and manageable draw weights. I know I'll throw around an Ugly Stick fiberglass fishing rod but not my St. Croix carbon rods. lol
