Congrats, I shot my first deer in 2004 and I've been an addict ever since. You are going to meet people who will try to make you feel bad for " shooting the innocent deer" or " killing animals" . Tell them what I've been saying for the last 11 years, you hunt because there's nothing more rewarding than feeding yourself and your family 100% organic meat that you harvested with your own hard work! Congratulations again :D

....always love it when a someone new comes aboard and garners the hunting passion...once you harvest the first deer the hook is set for life...do it with family and or friends and it becomes priceless!...Congrats on your first harvest and wish you many more to come!

Thanks for all the well wishes.
I'm still pretty happy about how it all worked out. Nit picking the little things I need to improve on and so forth but can't wait to get out hunting again. :D
To answer the question as to why I started hunting, a friend gave us a few pounds of venison last year. We're pretty outdoorsy and had just purchased a 55 acre woodlot/building lot so it was only natural to want to hunt it. My husband should have his hunting license by next year and I'll have to share my hunting time   .
Currently we're trying to tan the hide so any input for that let me know.
I think I'll switch to a 1.25" slick trick broadhead and some Zombie slayers with blazer helical fletching. So yes building arrows is next on the adventure list. Can't wait :D .
Dropped the doe off at the butchers hopefully find out Sunday how much meat it is.
