The first thing you should do is purchase a stringer if you didn't get one in rhe box. Very important for maintaining brace height. Read and watch the vids that are posted to the left of this page.Welcome to the forum. :D

Above all, keep your fingers below the deck or path of the string, otherwise, you're going to have a trip to the hospital.
Make sure your arrow is seated all the way to the string.
When you shoot at targets, make sure you have zero distractions.
Pay attention, your best safety is between your ears.

He's talking about the stringing aid...used for changing strings & adjusting brace height. If you just type "brace height" in the search bar you can read for hours.
I'm not to familiar with the Grizzly but most excals have one or two lines scribed in the rail for your brace height settings.
Also keep your digits below the rail!!

This is the factory stringing aid. It is not a cocking aid.http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/catalo ... inging_aid

Yes. It would be very hard on your bow to shoot without proper brace height. The plastic ends of the stringer slip over your limb ends and you cock your bow with the stringer using the cocking aid. Slip your safety on and you can safely remove your string or add twists in the string to get the proper brace height. Most of the bows have have a hash mark on the top of the rail close to the riser. If you have rubber string stoppers the correct distance is 1/4 inch from the string to the bumpers. As the string stretches, you will have to twist the string in the same direction as the string is twisted to return to brace height. Depending on the maker, the string will stop stretching eventually. Also, practice cocking and uncocking till you are comfortable with the procedure.
Ask and we will answer.

Sorry to sound like I'm a dumb a$$ but I'm lost now. I think I'm thinking somthing else than you are trying to explain. I was assuming it's for changing the string, I'm now thinking it's for setting the proper hight as you are explaining.

Ha, sorry about that. It is used for both. The stringer allows you to remove the string or tighten the string by slipping one end of the string off a limb( doesn't matter which side) and twisting the string one or two turns to return to brace height. There are vids in the blue panel to the left that show both procedures.

Is there a specific make of stringer that's best or are they all the same in general?
