After doing more research in this forum, I found that a lot of people have received the smf scope with their grizzly package. Some from Cabelas and some from Bass pro along with other places.So it has to be that Excalibur didn't have enough Vari-Zone and Dead Zone Scopes to keep up with demand so they put the SMF scope in. Just a guess but I bet I am pretty close.

I would say you are pretty much dead on. Like I stated before, if you are not happy with the scope you received contact Excalibur and they will probably swap it out for you. Their CS is the best in the industry.
