Would there be any interest in a arrow cutting jig???
I bought some arrows and needed a arrow cutoff jig. I looked at the prices for one to buy and thought I could just make my own. My question is would there be an interest by other members to have one. My guess is the jig would cost around 70.00 dollars not including a dremel tool or blades. Here are a couple of pics of what I came up with. I use my Foreman carver tools for the cutter but any small dremel would do. If I could get a dozens or so members that want one I could keep the cost down. PM me if you would want one and I will see if it is something that could be kept affordable. Heck a factory made one is pushing 200.00.

Would it be made of wood?
I think you should include a stringing aid.

If I can get a dozen or so buyers I think I can get it down to 50.00 depending on shipping.

Price wise.... Perhaps try your local "Harbour Freight". I bought a very small 2 1/2 to 3" cut off saw some time back when making traditional arrows for myself and a couple friends.
That little set up really did a great job as you could use the very high speed blade with very fine teeth ( wich came with the saw )for wooden shafts or purchase a slightly larger fiber one that did great on aluminum and carbon shafts...The bigger blade did require removal of the blade safety cover.
I'm not sure how it would survive if used commercially ? I made up a portabl table and rail that that I could set the entire saw into which allowed everything to stay level and 90 degrees to the rail and blade...then used a block of wood with hole drilled to accept the nock and keep the shaft parrellel too and sitting on the small aluminum saw table baseplate. The block was seperate from the rail and moveable along it as a floating guide to clamp to the rail as a "length gauge".
That small saw, I found on sale at that time for right at $25 US.
I think I have seen them "On Sale" occassionaly since then at or very that price.and perhaps their use may help hold your costs done some ?

For anyone that has a dremel you would have a cut off saw and can still do dremel work. Not a bad option.

Hey Mike, why not put this in the Trading Post as well?

Did something that sounds very similar. Portable table with the saw mounted to it and I just use some clamps to hold a block used to set the length. You don't have to be perfectly square on the cut as you SHOULD BE squaring the arrows anyway with a real arrow squaring tool.
The saw is made to mount to a table anyway....
