Dr Stirrup 4x4 rope kocker review
Easy to assemble & adjust to your desired length for your bow.
Hook design with 2 pulleys per hook really drives the hooks snug againset the rail. This is a real plus for consistent string alignment.
Oversize handles are excellent & provide a nice firm grip that you can use your entire hand to pull instead of a few fingers. Will also be a plus when you have thick gloves on.
Supplied cord seems really durable & is bright orange. Rated for 600lbs.
Kocking action with the pulleys on the bow & kocker string is nice a smooth with no friction when you kock your bow. Kocking effort is definately reduced with the 4x4. This will come in handy for long practise sessions.
The oversize hooks take some getting used to but in time it will be no big deal & probably safer in the long run.
Overall I think alot of thought went in to this kocking aid. It seems very well built & should last a lifetime. Well worth the investment.
Oh and most important of all it is made in Canada with materials from Canada and the US. No cheap overseas crap on this rope Kocker. That alone speaks volumes with me.

Re: Dr Stirrup 4x4 rope kocker review
I've found that the entire Dr Stirrup accessory, or up-grade, kit, has helped both of my Matrix xbows. Dr Stirrup, Air Brakes, Ktech stabilizer, Zeiss, Zombies, TT, packed foam, shrink wrapped and tension lightened arrow hold down spring have helped my Matrix 380&405 to be virtually silent and extremely stable.
Re: Dr Stirrup 4x4 rope kocker review
I use the whole kit minus air brakes, absolutely love it!

Re: Dr Stirrup 4x4 rope kocker review
Great review, Jeff.
Personally, I don't like the pinch point that exists between the handle and the roller on the hook when letting down the string during uncocking. I would put a few knots between the handle and the roller to be careful.

I like Excal's handle better because the T is integrated to prevent the pinch point and they are more ergonomic, as in fit my hand better. Gaston's hooks sure are superior though.bellerivercrossbowhunter wrote:

I didn't even think of putting a couple knots in for spacing. I just used my Excalibur handles instead. I also didn't like that pinch point that the large handles gave. That was my only gripe I experienced. Thought it was just me.racking up points wrote:Great review, Jeff.

I do too. But I can see where the larger dr stirrup handles could help people. It's just easier for me and faster with the Excalibur handles on it.mr meat wrote:I just put my Excal handles on the DR Stirrup hooks and cocked my micro about 5 times and i think i like it better!!

Re: Dr Stirrup 4x4 rope kocker review
How thick of rope can be used in Gaston's kocker? I just picked up a couple meters of 1/4" Kevlar rope from mountain equipment co op but looking closer I'm suspicious as to wether it will fit through the hooks.

Paul, if the rope does not fit just run a ever so slightly larger drill bit to enlarge the rope hole.

Re: Dr Stirrup 4x4 rope kocker review
Norman, you're a mind reader. That was my next question. I hope this rope works as it's not very pliable. It's actually a 4mm Kevlar static cord with zero stretch and something like 2400lbs breaking strength.Normous wrote:Paul, if the rope does not fit just run a ever so slightly larger drill bit to enlarge the rope hole.

Try using a bit of non scent Daltons string wax as a lube of entry.
