Is something not right with my 1992 stock string?

Post by Seezer »

Nine months prior to me getting on this forum, I purchased a 355 Matrix. I thought a extra string would be wise. So I purchased a 1992SB from Excalibur through Amazon. I decided to rotate strings today. My first thought was I bought a Micro string?!! I dug around and found the original packaging, says "Matrix string" 1992SB? I did some more investigating, found the original string is longer? Does the out of box string stretch that much? It is exactly 1" above rail mark. I feel like a fool for not looking at forum first and getting a string from one of the guys on this forum.

Cock it and let it hang for a few days, this will speed up the stretching.

So, the latest on the 1992 Excalibur string, not so good. I made a jig and stretched it for two weeks and tightened every 3-4 days. After all that, I'm still 5/8" off reference line on riser. (Only 3/8" improvement.) The string that came with Matrix 355, I need to twist a lot to get it on the reference line..? With more knowledge, I would have just went to a string maker on the Forum and skipped the Excalibur string. Made contact with Riflemanz, so found some new friends to shoot with. Thanks.

Hey guys
I purchased a micro 315 about three weeks back how do I tell if my string is stretching. I probably shot about 100 quills out of it so what do I look for to figure this out as I don't have anything to gage it off

You're string is stretching if your having to adjust brace height. Watch for the amount your string gets near your bumpers .

When you say too short, what do you mean?
