ram cat users?

Post by Carnivorous »

I bought a pack of the100gr Ramcat crossbow heads. To see if I like them..

My Micro arrows are 16.5" and sit a few inches behind the stirrup. I noticed that the ramcat blade just clears the stirrup if it is loaded on the mainframe blade side down. Have any of the ram cat users had issues with the blade coming in contact with the stirrup? It looks like it should be a non issue but I thought I would ask before I learn the hard way... :)

Yea if you wrap your stirrup with paracord and dont orient the blades your gonna have a problem ive moved on who needs problems when theres 200 or so heads to choose from who wants to orient a head in the dark on stand .ive tried them they do indeed fly good .as said before....made in china ......naaaaw. I was shooting 125 grain w/110 brass with a zombie . Great flight. When practicing with them the blades constantly have to get re tightened using a block or similar target. Im not nocking the head but honestly compare the chinsy blades to any head nap makes or a magnus hornet and theres no comparison.one thing i can say is that the blades were very sharp .

I've been using for 3 years no issues clearing the stirrup. They flex forward when with drawing from target, it's designed to do that so in the rare instance you don't get a pass thru they cut backing out.
I'm using a 100 gr. head with 125gr. Blades my scales says 104gr. with 1 and half inch cut.

Jeff, you could just refletch them to orient the blades into a favorable position or switch out each broadhead from arrow to arrow to see if another Ramcat orients better.

My stirrups are wrapped on my Excaliburs and I use the Ramcats, however I do cut out a "V" in the wrap where the blade would pass through if it were to make contact... I've been using the 100 grain heads for two seasons now and have not had any contact issues with them mounted on Zombie shafts....

Thanks for the input. Should be a non issue then.

I also have a pack of QAD Exodus crossbow heads to try out. The head with the best performance will be on my arrows for Bear in a few weeks... :)

Jeff...I shoot the 125s and the clearance is tight if the blade is oriented down, but they clear. I don't wrap my stirrup though....

Check these out....

Amount of blood at the initial hit on the first one, and blood at the end on the second one. Some of what convinced me......

I have my stirrup wrapped with tennis racket tape and had to remove about an inch from the middle so the would clear.

Getting ready for the season...........made up 11 arrows the other day and sighted in with field points. Started re-sighting with my Ramcats last night. 2 for 2 dead on. All I did was swap from FP to Ramcat. POI exactly the same. Dead nuts at 40 and 30. I'll do a few arrows each day until I have them all dialed in. Then I'll hope that I get to shoot all 11 at live animals!!
