New Micro 335

Post by L-DOG »

Hello nice to be a part of something so great !! I just bought a brand new 335 micro and got it all together and the string is touching the Reds. Does this mean I Can't shoot it or what ? It's the first Excalibur I've ever owned and I love this thing but I'm concerned about shooting with the string touching the Reds. What would you guys suggest me do ? Thanks :)

You need to put a couple twists in your string to shorten it up? Are you familiar with how to do this?

Watch the online video's to become familiar with your Excalibur and use a stringing aid and twist your string to shorten it before shooting it.

After twisting, remove stringing aid, recock and leave it cocked with safety on for a day or two then uncock it, recheck distance.

Do not twist it wrong way like I did....From outside of the bow limb tip looking in holding the string loop turn string ONLY counterclockwise to increase the distance from reds..mine is like 3/16 inch away from rubbers some use 1/4 inch..

you will need string cocker thing to do this...

Thanks for all the fine info :) I've got a the string changing devise on the way and I sure wish that came with the crossbow because after paying that big chunk of money. I was ready to shoot the bow when it came in !! But I love it and I will probably have to keep in touch with you guys on here so I can learn the process. bought a extra string and it's a Jack Pine. Will that be a good string in you guys opinion ?
Thanks Guys

Thanks guys :) I have hunted with a Horton legend Sl for the past 13 years and a Horton super mag for 13 years before that. Killed a lot of deer with crossbows but the recurve bow is the first time and I'm never going back. I love the Excalibur line of bows. Thanks for the advise and the nice words :) and I sure love the way the micro 335 feels and one awesome looking bow !!!

Welcome aboard, and congrats. :)
Good info given already, and the more you hang around the more you will learn about these fine excalibur crossbows ;)
That Jack Pine string you got from Cal will be a very good string.
We also have some excellent string makers on this site.
