Gen 1 gen 2 micro 335?

Post by Avenue33 »

I'm pretty new to the forums and I have a matrix 355 and a micro 335. What is the difference between the gen 1 and gen 2 micro? I have been seeing this a lot throughout the forums. Thanks.

Gen 1 uses a more forward swept riser.
Gen 2 uses a more relaxed angled riser, and uses various lengths of main frame to get the speed, be it 315, 335, or 355.

How do I know which generation I have. I bought it a week ago but I'm not sure how long my pro shop had it in stock.

The Gen Two riser is much more "open" when views from the top. The Gen one has more webbing inside. Tough to describe, but search this site and you'll find comparison pics, I think they are in a thread in the for sale section called "riser trade" or close to it

It's all in the riser design. The mainframe length on the Gen 2 is also longer.

Gen 1 micro 335 is what most want when looking for used one ..I think the gen 2 does not have brace marks on rail?

Note in the pictures Jeff posted...the Gen 1 riser is not forward swept. It's just that the Gen 2 is swept back more. Something like a Vortex or a 405 has a swept forward riser.

If you want to call them generation 1 and 2, go ahead, but there is more than 1 change in risers. Either way, don't get an aversion of any of them. I have a field test 355 and the limbs are doing just fine.

Correct, I should have worded that differently. I was comparing the two, hence the "more".
