Letting bow down?

Post by Timmypo1 »

So I must admit, I'm a little nervous about letting down my new Micro 355 with the cocking rope. I've never had a Excalibur before, so I'm not sure what to expect. I know this thing takes some serious strength to cock, I was kind of suprised. I'm not too sure about having all that weight on one arm. Does way the rope works cause some friction that might cut the weight a bit when lowering?

Its not hard to let down n doesn't require the same strength. Jus make sure if'en you have the ADF to push it down as you squeeze the trigger

And make damn sure the arrow is removed. You can do it if you can cock it!

X2 it's easier than cocking.

Sounds good. That last inch or 2 of the draw is no joke! I was a little worried it might be jerky when I pull the trigger. I cock my old mans 175# crossbow with no rope for him all the time. The micro is a whole other ball game!

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I went ahead and tried it. Wasn't nearly as violent as I had expected. It actually goes down pretty smooth.

The hardest part is getting the pucker out of your cheeks after you try it the first time. I think it was 2 days before I could fart.

Lol. Yes, it's a lot easier to let it down than one would expect. I wonder how many people shoot their bolts at the end of a hunt because they fear letting it down themselves. I know a couple of people that won't try it.

I'm sure others that may be leery will also read this about using the cocking rope to let it down.
Heck I'm ready to turn 69 and find it fairly easy to do it on a Matrix 380, DON"T BE SCARED and always make sure the rope is in the groove in the stock. If you can cock it with the rope, you should be able to let it down also using the rope.
Might add, maybe with a really bad shoulder or very little hand strength due to injury or something else, then it may not be a good idea to let it down using the rope.

I am almost 67 and had rotator cuff surgery a few years back and I have had no problems at all decocking my 3 Excals using the cocking rope. It is much easier than cocking the bow in the first place.
