Perfect shot... enjoy your hard earned venison....
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

.....no it isn't over....the regular season is over...meaning now you have to pay for each "freakin" zone you may want to hunt in and The Peoples Republic has a bunch of zones...so in some places if you want to hunt the woods on this side of the street it is one zone...and if you go to the other side its another zone...each requiring it's own permit....plus you have to pay on top of the permit (which allows you to shoot a doe) for a buck tag....gets spensive real quick!

....our permit season can run in some cases through February but usually through Dec 31....Oh by the way you have to buy another license on Jan 1...because we are on a calendar year!

....sometimes we feel like we are up "acreek" without a paddle!

Dang. Sounds like a mess. In Wisconsin, a crossbow or regular archery license (for use with vertical bows) costs $24 for residents, $160 for nonresidents. With that license, you can shoot one buck and one doe in most zones. Some zones up north have a deer population well below carrying capacity and thus you can't shoot a doe there regardless of the antlerless permit that is included in the license. If you hunt with both crossbows and vertical bows, you pay a $3 "upgrade" fee so your license can be used with either bow. Seems like a good deal to me. So for $27 I can hunt with my recurve one trip and and switch over to the crossbow the next. And that $27 is good from mid-September to the first week of January.
