Exomag nails #2

Post by korey99 »

Success came again last night. I went out in the morning and came upon a couple of does bedded about 25 yards from one of my treestands (being my luck, the stand I'd chosen NOT to hunt for the past 4 weeks!). Anyway, they sniffed me out before I could manouver around for a shot, but I did manage to get within 15 yards of them (they were in some dense bush along the river, and I didn't want to risk a poor shot through the trees). They took off, so I decided it was time to re-activate this dormant stand!

I went in at 3:30 yesterday aft, and at 4:00 I gave a couple of grunts on the tube. I'm not sure if that's what did it, but 15 minutes later this little guy came sneaking along the river's edge. He passed directly in front of me...kinda how I envisioned it when I positioned this stand (and we all know how often that usually DOESN'T happen!).

This guy is my second (I posted some pic's in mid-Oct of my nine pointer). This 4 pointer is a good "meat" deer, and it also allows me to leave another big 6/small 7 point, and another good 8 pointer I've seen in the area this year. Meaning next year, they'll be the boys I'm chasing! It's all about "herd management"!

Unfortunately now my wife believes my season is over...two is enough, she says. I must agree with her, but that won't keep me from going out a couple of more times before the end of the season just to keep an eye on the herd! Now I must go and start buttering her up in preparation for next weekend's hunt.....Dear...would you like another foot rub?!?

Chat soon boys.....

Nice buck! I'm still looking for #1. I have pretty much the next 4 weeks off from work so hopefully I can fill one of my tags. At the very least I will have some well needed thereputic time in the woods!!!
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

Congrats. Good looking deer, will be some good eats there. Good luck with #3!

I hunt on the west side of the city, close to Melrose and Lobo. It's a productive little bush for me.

I've put my name in to be one of the Sifton Bog "cullers", slated for next fall. It's only 5 minutes from my house. Lots of deer down this way, and no complaints from me!

Nice Buck Korey99! Did you take him with a crossbow? I have gotten two deer this season and I can tell you that two is not enough.
If you can't take a good shot, don't take a shot.
