scope fogging up?

Post by 76chevy »

Hi Guys,

I am new here and to crossbow hunting. Just got an Axiom and Love it!!

The one minor issue I have found is that the scope will fog up on some of these hot humid midwest days when I go out to shoot. Is this normal?

Any way to reduce the fogging? Other than reducing humidity outside? :D

That will do it every time.Let the bow & scope warm up outside before you shoot it.

I started wiping off my scope lenses occasionally with alcohol prep swabs to remove dust and that seemed to reduce fogging a lot.

X2 on leaving outside a while before you shoot. :)

If it's fogging inside it's toast. Outside, wash the glass with some dish soap/water.

Dunk it in water to see if it leaks and if it leaks it will fog and needs to go.

Go to 5min. 30 sec into the video to see how Leupold water tests each and everyone of their scopes.

This is exact;y what I was about to recommend...Yes "CatCrap" is real stuff :D ..and it works GREAT to stop fogging no matter what the climate. I believe it is made for skiing goggles etc.
