Micro 335 Dry fire save? Now shooting low???
BACKSTORY......
I've been a firearm hunter for a while, but picked up a new Micro 335 early this Spring to make the crossbow leap; increasing my hunting opportunities greatly. I practiced tediously & got extremely accurate with it. This Fall I have already taken two deer, both with perfect heart shots.
THE ISSUE AT HAND......
Practicing yesterday evening I got a little careless as it was getting dark quickly & I "dry fired" my crossbow. I use the quotes as my anti-dry fire system worked perfectly stopping my string from actually fully dry firing. HOWEVER AFTER THIS I'M NOW SHOOTING ABOUT A FOOT LOW AT 40 YARDS! I shot four times after the -saved- dry fire and each shot was uniformly 12-14" low. WHAT GIVES? I looked over the string & limbs & everything looks totally fine.
The scope mounts right on top of the dry-fire protection system. Perhaps when it caught the string it shifted the entire mount? Everything seems tight.
Should I just adjust the scope & shoot the hell out of it to make sure it's a-ok? I have a chronograph I could check it with, but I never took a reading prior to this, having only ever used the chrono for firearms/airguns.
Any help is much appreciated.

You probably jarred the scope mount real good. Check the 4 screws carefully that hold the mount and reset the scope. If all is good, go hunting.
Good luck!

I agree with Dan. Something moved. Re-check, re-tighten. Check the stock mount screws and the screws that hold the trigger to the rail as well. Everything gets a "small dose" of blue locktight and a 24 hour cure time before you shoot. Then re-sight and go hunting.

Re: Micro 335 Dry fire save? Now shooting low???
All the screws of the entire sightbridge/latch assembly were the first things checked; all were completely tight.
Good to hear you're thinking the same as me, that the scope mount was just jarred by the impact. My only concern is if I were to make an adjustment that it settles back over time.
I'll adjust and keep an eye on it.
Thank you-

Yep, the force from the ADF would pull up and out on the scope mount. Effective raise you POA, and lowering you POI

I have done the same thing before and my POI only moved about an inch. If you only checked the four screws holding your scope mount on you really need to pull your stock and check the trigger screws. Something definitely moved to get a 14" change in POI.

Effective PSI on that ADF latch would be almost 270 pounds divided by the contact area of the string and ADF latch....I'll say 1/8" x 1/4" = 0.03125". So force on that ADF latch was 270/0.03125 = 8640PSI, but actually a bit less because the limbs are down some...but still easily over 4000PSI. Definitely enough to move something if it's a bit loose.

Got it all adjusted back to zero & shooting accurately. Not hunting again until Friday so I'll let it sit for a few days & check it again Thanksgiving evening. If all is good I'll be back hunting.
Thanks all for the help, I'll post an update to confirm whether its holding zero.

I did the same thing with my Exomax with no change in POI. Guess I got lucky. I installed the Guardian ADF last year.

Seems ok I guess? After zeroing it, then checking it a few days later there was no change. Took it hunting this morning and only saw a spike, which got a pass of course.
How exactly would loose trigger screws impact accuracy?

Scope mount and ADF mounts directly to the trigger housing.

X3 , remove the two stock to mainframe screws and pull mainframe from the stock .
Then check the two trigger to mainframe screws that secure the trigger, Adf, scope mount and scope to mainframe.

Re: Micro 335 Dry fire save? Now shooting low???
There's enough impact energy and leverage that could bend your scope base down and that bend should cause a higher POI. I would check the 2 screws under the trigger, the 4 screws that hold the scope base to the trigger unit and then the scope ring fasteners. Then adjust your scope. Assuming you are not near the end of the horizontal adjustment, you're good to go.
There is a tad of slop in the 4 scope base screws that can cause a difference in POI but that should cause it to shoot high. Anything loose should cause erratic POI. So I'm guessing it may be your scope that is acting up from the impact of your dry-fire.
