Do Air Brakes or Reds Affect Speed?

Do Air Brakes or Reds Affect Speed?
I've been shooting my Excal with no accessories for years, but lately I've been debating whether or not to purchase the air brakes and the REDS. I want to know from someone with firsthand knowledge whether either of these affect arrow speed. Also, does either produced a noticeable difference in vibration and noise? I know that's what they're designed to do, but the the change isn't worth the cost of the item then I'd rather spend that money on more bolts and broadheads. Thanks for any and all info.

I have both on my bow. I mainly bought them thinking they will reduce some of the stress on my limbs. I think they quiet the bow (and look cool). Not sure if they slow my bow down. (I doubt REDS slow the bow, Air Brakes might a little.)

Appreciate the info @Montana Mark. I'll for sure get the REDS.

I have tried my BD400 with and without Airbrakes. Didn't notice any difference in sound or vibration but did feel the weight difference. They are approximately 1/2 lb right out in the front. Going to be using it without the brakes. Never tried without the Reds but believe that they are doing something and they are light enough so no reason to worry about them.

The bumpers I bought per the other thread weigh 2 1/4 ounces total for both, it does lessin the vibration. The sound went from the twang to a thud.
My brace height is still high because my string is still stretching.
My points of impact for some reason is higher eventhough my brace height is too high so I don’t think the bumpers are having a negative effect on my speed.
I’m gonna chrono mine when everything settles in

Appreciate the info. I ordered the REDS last night. Leaning towards not getting the brakes at this point.

The only reason I’m even trying them is just to see if it slows down screws from loosening and I cannot rightly give an opinion until I try it.

I like the string stops but have never felt the air brakes were worth the weight,I would put the air brake money towards a ADF if you do not have it all ready.

@Gerald Strine... That's one of the first things I bought when I got my Matrix.

Neither product shoudl slow the arrow down. The arrow is gone before the string hits the stops or the limbs hit the air brakes. Both are meant to stop the post shot vibrations quicker.

Whether it slows it down or not would be decided by if the string reached its full speed before hitting the string stop and bolt separated from string.

Re: Do Air Brakes or Reds Affect Speed?
My understanding is that the arrow separates from the string at brace height, which is behind the stops. So I guess technically, if you had a very low brace height and no stops, then add stops and have to raise the BH you could affect the speed. But the general case is the brace is higher than the stops whether you have them installed or not.
