Every generation thinks the younger generation's music is inferior, but I'm so glad to have reached maturity listening to classic rock. To be successful then, musicians had to have extraordinary skill and play music that was creative. I always told my kids that the correct spelling of "rap" started with a silent "c".

The "Big Bopper" may well have ended up being a one hit wonder and Richie Valens may never have become a superstar, but Buddy Holly was a huge talent. His loss was comparable to losing John Lennon but probably worse because he was so young and just beginning. Both the Rolling Stones and the Beatles covered his work and heaped praise on him. A terrible loss!
